The Symposium on Infection and Immunity in Marine Organisms organized by CAS Key Laboratory of Tropical Marine Bio-resources and Ecology (LMB) was successfully held on July 25th in Guangzhou. 

　　The conference was hosted by Prof. QIN Qiwei, Prof. ZHANG Si, the director of the SCSIO gave a welcoming speech. More than 60 faculties and graduate students from LMB attended this meeting. 

　　Invited by Prof. QIN Qiwei, Prof. Xue Qinggang from Louisiana State University, Associate Prof. LI Jun from Lake Superior State University, Prof. ZHANG Shicui from Ocean University of China, Prof. XIA Chun from China Agricultural University, Prof. YANG Tingbao from Sun Yat-sen University, Prof. LIN Li from Huazhong Agricultural University, Profs. NIE Pin and ZHANG Yonganfrom from Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences visited SCSIO and delivered lectures at the conference.  

　　The titles of the lectures gave by Profs. XueQinggang, LI Jun, ZHANG Shicui, XIA Chun, NIE Pin and ZHANG Yongan were “Understanding host immunity to help with disease control in mollusk via genetic improvement”，“Infection and Immunity: Involvement of Innate and Adaptive Immune Responses in Fish Defenses”，“Vg, an immunocompetent molecule for mother and offspring”，” Progress in the structure and function of the CTL from bony Fish”，“Progress in Type II and III Interferon from Reptile” and “The negative regulatory mechanisms of interferon regulatory factor to interferon in Fish”. These lectures ignited in-depth discussions covering a plenty of novel ideas and reliable methods on Marine Organisms immunology from different resources.The audience had a heated discussion after the lectures. 

　　The symposium promoted the innovation and development of the research on infection and immunity in Marine Organisms, and should bring reinforcement of the communication and collaboration between LMB and the frontier of famous domestic and overseas research teams. 

    Prof. LONG Lijuan, deputy director of SCSIO, Prof. ZHANG Changsheng, director of Research and Planning Division (SCSIO), Prof. WU Zhaohe from Zhongkai University of Agricultural and Engineering, and Dr. FENG Juan from South China Sea Fisheries Research Institute, Chinaese Academy of Fishery Sciences attended the conference.
