From September 1993 to July 1997, he studied for a bachelor's degree in Physical Oceanography of Ocean University of China; from September 1997 to June 2002, he studied for a doctor's degree in Physical Oceanography of Ocean University of China; from July 2002 to March 2004, he worked in the South China Sea Institute of Oceanography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and served as assistant researcher and associate researcher; from March 2004 to April 2008, he worked at the University of Hawaii, USA, as a doctoral candidate Postdoctoral researcher. From May 2008 to now, he has worked in the South China Sea Institute of Oceanography, Chinese Academy of Sciences; from 2014 to 2017, he served as the director of Physical Oceanography; from 2016 to 2018, he served as the deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of tropical marine environment; in 2017, he served as the deputy director of the South China Sea Institute of Oceanography, Chinese Academy of Sciences. During his work, he made short-term academic visits to Potsdam University in Germany, CSIRO Marine Atmospheric Research Center in Australia, NOAA Great Lakes laboratory in the United States and Scripps Institute of Oceanography in the United States.
The research area is physical oceanography and climate change, mainly engaged in the study of ocean circulation and air sea interaction. Recently, we have carried out work on the ocean dynamic mechanism of the air sea coupling mode in the tropical Indian Ocean under monsoon environment. He has won the titles and subsidies of the State Council government special allowance, National Science Fund for distinguished young people, first prize of science and technology of Guangdong Province, and China Youth Science and technology award. More than 110 SCI papers have been published, with more than 3000 citations in SCI, and they have been selected as the top 1% of the global geoscience citation index of ESI. He is also a university professor of Chinese Academy of Sciences, deputy editor in chief of Journal of Tropical Oceanography, editorial board member of scientific reports, editorial board member of Acta oceanologica Sinica, member of Satellite Oceanography and meteorology, director of China Society of Oceanography and Limnology, chairman of Guangdong Ocean society, etc.
