Danling Tang Was Elected Vice-president of COSPAR Sub-commission A2
The 38th COSPAR Scientific Assembly was successfully held in Bremen Germany in July 2010. During the assembly, president, vice-presidents and other officers of COSPAR were elected by the Council. Dr. Danling Tang, Research scientist of South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, CAS, was elected Vice-president of COSPAR Sub-mission A2-Ocean Dynamics and Productivity for a term of four years.
Committee on Space Research (COSPAR) was established in 1958. It is the world's largest professional organization in space research. It has more than 50 national and international academic organizations capable of space research. COSPAR holds biennial scientific assemblies.
Dr. DanLing TANG received her Ph.D degree in Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and then conducted research and teaching in foreign universities and institutes for about ten years. She was a professor of Fudan University from 2003 to 2005. In 2004, Dr. Tang returned to China as members of “100 Talents Program” and “Outstanding Scientists” of CAS. Now she is the leading professor of “Group of Remote Sensing and Marine Ecology” of SCSIO. Dr. Tang is a councilor of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Council and a member of the PACON Board of Directors.
In recent years, several of the institute’s research scientists have been holding positions in international scientific organizations, which shows that the institute has been actively taking part in international cooperation and communication, and its research accomplishments have gained more international recognition.
