Prof. N. Ramaiah from National Institute of Oceanography, India visited SCSIO

  Invited by Dr. Danling Tang, Member of the Hundred Talents Program of CAS and Research Scientist of RSMEE,LED, South China Sea Institute of Oceanology (SCSIO), CAS, Prof. N. Ramaiah from National Institute of Oceanography, India visited SCSIO in October and November, 2010. Prof. N. Ramaiah and Dr. Danling Tang have maintained a stable long-term cooperation in marine biological research. His two-month visit to SCSIO this time was sponsored by the project “Sea-truth and remote-sensing based analyses of plankton dynamics in the seas in Indo-China region (40811140533)” granted to Dr. Danling Tang by National Natural Science Foundation of China.

  During his visit, Prof. N. Ramaiah gave a presentation titled “Synoptic and in-situ observations of temporal variability of Chlorophyll a in the Bay of Bengal”, discussed scientific issues with research scientists of SCSIO, and taught young scientists and graduate students the knowledge of  observation and classification of algae which helped improve their lab skills. He also participated in the 3rd International Symposium on the Indian Ocean and South China Sea-Advances in Climate Change and Environmental Research of Indian Ocean and South China Sea organized by SCSIO. This is Prof. N. Ramaiah’s third visit to the institute.

  Dr. Danling Tang has established long-term friendly cooperation with Indian scientists. She has been invited as visiting scholar to India many times and invited many Indian scholars to visit SCSIO, which promoted Indo-China scientific cooperation.
